Paruppu Rasam
Ingredients:
- 1 Big Tomato diced
- 1/4 Cup Thuvar / Toor dhal
- 1 Tsp Rasam powder
- 1/2 Tsp Jeera
- A pinch of Hing
- 1 Sprig Curry leaves
- 1/2 Cup Coriander leaves
- 1/2 Tsp Puli / Tamarind paste
- 1 Tsp Oil
Preparation:
- Pressure cook thuvar dhal with 1 cup water & few drops of oil.
- Heat oil in a saucepan & add jeera.
- After few seconds add diced tomato & salt.
- Cook till tomato becomes soft.
- Add hing, rasam powder, 1/2 cup water & puli paste.
- Boil in medium flame for 10 minutes.
- Add 1 cup water & cooked dhal & boil for 10 more minutes.
- Finally add chopped coriander leaves & curry leaves.
- Remove from heat.
- Serve hot with rice.
Adding a drop of oil while cooking dhal will make it cook fast.
